How do you calculate the right epoxy resin dosage?
Accurate resin and hardener dosing is essential for proper curing and the expected performance. This calculator uses the selected system’s mixing ratio by weight and, for volume calculations, each component’s density.
How do you follow the resin / hardener ratio?
Follow the ratio specified for each system. A 100:37 ratio by weight means 37 g of hardener for 100 g of resin. Changing the amount of hardener can impair curing and the properties of the mixture.
How do you mix epoxy resin properly?
Measure resin and hardener accurately, then mix thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom of the container. Ensure the mixture is uniform before application. For larger quantities, use a suitable container and mixing method.
Epoxy resin dosage FAQ
How do you calculate the amount of hardener for epoxy resin?
The amount depends on the system’s specified ratio. With a 100:42 ratio by weight, 100 g of resin needs 42 g of hardener. The calculator determines the quantities automatically.
What is the difference between dosing by weight and by volume?
Weight uses the system’s mass ratio directly. Volume also requires the density of resin and hardener: components with different masses may occupy different volumes.
How do you mix epoxy resin and hardener properly?
Pour the calculated amounts into a suitable container and mix thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom. Follow the system technical data sheet.
Can more hardener make the resin cure faster?
No. Keep the specified resin to hardener ratio. Changing the proportions can prevent proper curing and impair the final properties.
Why are volume and weight calculations different?
The volume calculation accounts for each component’s density and converts the official mass ratio into appropriate volumes.
